In December of 2007 United Regional Medical Center went before the State of Tennessee Health Services Development Agency to ask for approval to build a brand new facility to replace an aging one built in 1954. URMC received a unanimous vote in favor of approval for the Certificate of Need. At that point URMC set in motion the plans to begin building Manchester the state of the art medical facility it so desperately needs and deserves. However, progress was halted when an appeal was entered by Medical Center of Manchester and Harton Regional Medical Center.

So, of the $22 million that Harton profited last year how much of that was taken out of Coffee Co and sent to HMA corporate?

UNITED REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER NEEDS A NEW HOSPITAL, EVERYTHING IS OUT OF DATE, AND ALL THE PATIENT ROOMS DONT EVEN HAVE BATHROOMS, THERE IS NO ROOM, PLEASE DROP THE APPEAL, AND LET THEM HAVE THE NEW HOSPITAL, WE ALL NEED IT, YOU HAVE ENOUGH PATIENTS, THIS WILL NOT HURT YOU. YOU DIDNT SEE URMC APPEAL WHEN YOU EXPANDED YOUR FACILITY. THAT TELLS ME THAT THEY ARE DOING WHATS BEST FOR COFFEE CO, AND THE PEOPLE, AND HARTON AND MEDICAL CENTER OF MANCHESTER JUST CARE ABOUT PROFITS!!

IT IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE COMMUNITY THAT URMC HAS THE APPROVAL TO BUILD A NEW HOSPITAL. EVERY PATIENT DESERVES TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A PRIVATE ROOM AND A BATHROOM. THE NURSES NEED A MORE UP TO DATE FACILITY TO BE ABLE TO CARE FOR THEIR PATIENTS. SOME OF THE ROOMS DO NOT HAVE GOOD LIGHTING. ADEQUATE LIGHTING IS A NECESSITY FOR A COMPLETE ASSESSMENT OF THE PATIENTS. PRIVATE ROOMS, BATHROOMS, A CCU, AND LABOR AND DELIVERY IN NO WAY WOULD TAKE PROFIT AWAY FROM HARTON. HARTON’S BIG MONEY MAKER IS THEIR CATH LAB AND NEURO SURGERY SERVICES. THE ABILITY TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE CARE TO THE PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY SHOULD BE A RESPONSIBILTY NOT A MONOPOLY. CAN ANYONE SAY “I WANT BOARDWALK AND PARKPLACE WITH HOTELS ON EACH”

Its a shame that the Medical corporations only see medical treatment as a profitable business. I cant help but wonder if the executives lived as far from tullahoma as I do. how they would react in an emergency situation and instead of being able to get to a hospital 15min away versus 40min away……And it was there dying mother in need of urgent medical care. Bottom line….Manchester is in desperate need of a modern medical facility and Harton like other Hospital corporations are GREEDY!!!!!!!!

It is a very greedy world we live in, if more people cared about each other and wanted what was best for their neighbors it wouldn’t be such a bad place to live. My family has lived in Manchester all our lives and to think that our neighbors wouldn’t want our community to thrive is wretching.

YOU ARE ONLY HURTING THE COMMUNITY BY YOUR CORPORATE GREED. MANCHESTER DESERVES BETTER AND IT SEEMS TO ME THAT SINCE YOU ARE NOT CAPABLE ENOUGH TO REACH THE NEEDS OF THOSE IN THE COMMUNITY WHICH IS APPARENT, THAN YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY REASON TO CARRY ON WITH THIS. SO IF YOU CONTINUE THIS YOU WILL ONLY HURT YOU AND THE COMMUNITY. REMEMBER GREED ONLY GOES SO FAR AND THEN IT STOPS. DO THE RIGHT THING.

I live 5 minutes from Harton and worked for several months at URMC. I would never in an emergency go to Harton. All of the facilities at URMC are outdated and need more space but the dedicated people and Dr.s at URMC deserve to have a decent hosptial. Please drop your appeals and let the people of Manchester build their new hospital. URMC is run by some very knowledgeable people and know the needs of the people. I have worked in the facility and they need a larger facility to maintain the excellent service they give to their patients.

I am a past employee of URMC and I can tell you that there are some wonderful people, great physicians who work at URMC. The people of Manchester deserve a place where they can go and continue to receive the care they have always known at URMC. This fight and hold up from Harton and Medical Center of Manchester is not only uncalled for but is hurting the people of Coffee County. Drop the appeal and let URMC build their facility and go forward. WHATEVER HAPPENED TO PATIENT CARE BEING FIRST AND FOREMOST! URMC is a great hospital.

Coffee County does not need three hospitals. What it really needs is one 300 bed facility that would really be a State of the Arts facility and would be a true Regional Medical Center. The fact that the two communities can not pool their resources and truly do what would be best for the entire county is truly appauling. This hospital could be located half way between Tullahoma and Manchester. Then we could keep almost all of our health care in Coffee County and eliminate the need for Nashville hospitals in most instances.

i think its a shame that manchester cant get a new hospital. i will not go to harton if i have any say so. i will take my money eslewhere. its time to help the community.

Some reasons why I think Manchester needs a new hospital, is one when my boyfriend went to Harton because he cut his knee and foot down to the bone they did not do anything for him until about six hours later. So he sat there in pain and with open wounds. They told him he would have a great chance in getting gain green in his knee. He went to a different Dr. and had an x-ray done and there was still rocks in both his knee and foot.
My 2nd reason is when my grandma went in this year and was to be checked on so often we did not see anyone for hours. When we called for a nurse because she could not feel her leg no one ever came to see if she was ok. She was also to be drinking a lot becuase she had a procedure done, but she was never given anything to drink. When my grandpa and I went to get someone there was no one to be found on that floor.
Maybe its just us but we do not really think Harton is the best place but its the only place we can go to.
Also if some one was dieing in Manchester they would not be able to make it, or if someone was having a baby they may not make it to Harton in time. I really think Manchester shoud be able to get a new hospital.
I hope this gets somewhere even if its not a new hospital, but maybe make Harton a better one.

Please drop the appeal! Coffee County deserves a new hospital! The people who live in Manchester deserve a place to give birth to their children where the birth certificate shows their hometown not the town over. My first daughter was born at Coffee County hospital. Her birth certificate shows Manchester. My twins were born at Harton. Their birth certificate says they were born in Tullahoma. They are confused why their birthcertificate doesn’t reflect where they are from. I tried explaining to them that the old hospital isn’t equipped to let Mommies have babies there anymore. Our town deserves better. Really the Manchester hospital is ran down too. I feel that there is plenty of reasons why Coffee County deserves a new hospital. Tullahoma has plenty of patients just from Tullahoma. Manchester has all the people from Bonnaroo that can go there. All of us who pay our county taxes deserves a county hospital! Both of the other hospitals are always packed and takes a long time to be seen. Harton is having a hard time keeping their nurses fully staffed at night. The care isn’t there.

A few reasons why I think URMC & Manchester need a NEW HOSPITAL OF THEIR OWN. Harton is not the best place to go and the people of Manchester need a hospital. Harton is to far away for someone to make it if they are dyeing. Some big ones are when my boyfriend was there because he cut his knee & foot down to the bone, it took 6 hours before they would do anything. They left rock in both his foot & knee. They also didn’t put the correct info. on his file…
A few days ago when my grandma went, she had a heart procedure done, she was to have lots of drink but they never once gave her something to drink although we asked. Then when her foot went num and she called for someone, no one never came until house later. When my grandpa & me went out to get someone to help, no one was on the floor.
Also when my step-mom went becuase she was having really bad migrains and would sometimes pass out becuase they was so bad, they told her there was nothing wrong with her to go home, that she just wanted drugs.
The people in Manchester need a new hospital that is able to take of them for whatever and one that is right down the road, not the next town over. Think of all the peolpe from Manchester that don’t make it becuase the hospital is not close enough to them.

We desperately need a new hospital in Manchester. Since I moved here 8 years ago, I have had a few emergencies where I had to drive in to Tullahoma to get the care for both my father and sister. It would have been A LOT less stressful on them if they had reached a hospital sooner.
